Frequently asked questions

What exactly does a return-to-work consultant do?

A return-to-work (RTW) consultant helps businesses manage injured employee cases — from the moment of injury through to recovery and safe re-entry into the workplace. We handle communication with employees, medical providers, insurers, and help you develop suitable duties and structured plans that meet legislative requirements.

Who is this service for?

Our services are built for Australian employers with 10–500 staff who don’t have a full-time RTW coordinator. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by WorkCover paperwork or unsure how to handle an injured employee’s recovery, we’re your ideal partner.

Do you manage the WorkCover claim directly?

We don’t submit claims or represent clients as WorkCover agents, but we support you through every step — guiding documentation, liaising with insurers, and helping you avoid delays or errors. Think of us as your in-house injury recovery specialist — without the headcount.

How do your pricing plans work?

We offer a transparent fixed-fee model based on your business size, industry, claims history and risk profile. No surprise bills. No hourly timers. Just predictable, professional support when you need it.

What happens if I only need help with one injury?

We offer one-off packages for single-claim support — perfect if you’re dealing with your first or only injury claim. You’ll get expert guidance and a tailored RTW plan, without needing to commit long-term.

Do I still need to involve my insurance agent?

Yes — your insurer will always be the authority on claim approvals and payments. However, we work alongside them to reduce friction, respond to requests quickly, and keep the case on track. Most insurers prefer when we’re involved — it helps them too.

Can you help me reduce my WorkCover premium?

While we don’t change premiums directly, we help you reduce claim duration and improve outcomes — two major factors influencing future premium rates. A well-managed claim can save thousands on your next premium adjustment.

Do you provide legal or WorkSafe compliance advice?

No — we don’t offer legal advice or act as compliance officers. But we’re deeply familiar with Victorian return-to-work obligations and guide you through processes in a way that keeps you aligned with expectations under WorkCover.

What if my worker isn’t ready to come back?

That’s okay. We work with the treating doctors to understand what’s safe and reasonable. We help you offer suitable modified duties (if possible) and check in regularly until your worker is fully cleared.

What makes RAWA different from a rehab provider?

Rehabilitation providers focus on treatment. We focus on the coordination — bringing everything together between the worker, workplace, doctor, and insurer. We’re your strategic partner to ensure the whole process runs smoothly and professionally.

Can I speak to someone before signing up?

Absolutely. We offer a free discovery call where we listen to your needs, walk through your case (if you have one), and show how we can help. No hard sell. Just straight answers.

What happens once I become a client?

Once you’re on board, we assign a dedicated consultant, review any active cases, set up your RTW documentation, and provide a simple onboarding guide. From there, you’ll have a go-to contact for anything injury or RTW related.

Recover at Work Australia made our return-to-work process seamless and stress-free. Highly recommend their services!
